Section 3: Definitions.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

(a) “Board” means the Coconut Development Board established under section 4;

(b) “Chairman” means the Chairman of the Board;

(c) “coconut” means the fruit of coconut palm and includes green coconut, ripe coconut and copra.

Explanation.—“Coconut palm” means the coconut tree, CocosNucifera Linn;

(d) “coconut industry” does not include—

(i) coir industry; or (ii) an industry from which products (including by-products) out of coconut oil are manufactured;

(e) “member” means a member of the Board and includes the Chairman;

(f) “prescribed” means prescribed by rules made under this Act.
