Section 46: Casual vacancies.

(1) When a casual vacancy occurs in the office of a member of the Standing Committee, Corporation or, as the case may be, Wards Committee shall fill up the vacancy, as soon as may be after, and in any case within one month of, the occurrence of the vacancy, by the election of another councillor or persons referred to in sub-clause (i) of clause (b) of sub-section (3) of section 3.

(2) A member elected to fill a casual vacancy shall be elected to serve for the remainder of his predecessor’s term of office
