Section 2: Definitions.

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—

(a) “Council” means the North-Eastern Council set up under section 3; (b) “north-eastern area” means the area comprising the States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,3[Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura];
